Biography

Taegwoo (Terry) Kim is a Los Angeles-based composer originally from South Africa. He is currently a scoring intern at Bear McCreary's studio, Sparks & Shadows.

In 2022, Terry interned and worked as a contract assistant for film composer Joseph Trapanese, contributing to the third season of Netflix's The Witcher. His freelance work includes scoring award-winning short films such as Minnestass and Portraits of a Smile. Other notable projects include composing for Extreme Makeover: Home Edition 2025, RNG Forge's 3D platformer game K3LVN, and various private commissions. Terry was also a finalist in the Indie Film Music Contest 2022.

Terry graduated in 2023 from The Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University, where he studied Music for New Media on a scholarship. Although a native Korean, he spent most of his education in South Africa, attending the Diocesan College on a music scholarship for violin, voice, and bassoon. With over a decade of musical experience, Terry has performed in orchestras, chamber ensembles, a cappella groups, and choirs.

Terry’s music style is a dynamic fusion of his classical training, contemporary electronic influences, and world music elements. He has a deep passion for orchestral music and a special love for fantasy and sci-fi.
