BIOGRAPHY
Jussi Lampela is a composer/orchestrator/conductor with a long history as an in-demand composer, arranger and orchestrator on concert works, recordings and feature films, and as a composer on documentaries and short films. He has also led several of his own ensembles, with Jussi Lampela Nonet being succesful on the jazz scene in Finland (nomination for the Finnish music industry’s Emma-prize in 2010). The album “Jazz Noir” with Turku Jazz Orchestra was released in 2021, featuring Jukka Perko and Jukka Eskola. A new Jussi Lampela Ensemble album with Jukka Eskola and Teppo Mäkynen has been released in 2026 by Eclipse Music.
Besides solo projects Lampela has composed music for documentaries and short films, and as an arranger and orchestrator he has worked on close to 20 feature films, among them the movie “Dark Floors” (dir. by Pete Riski) and the movie “Big Game” (dir. by Jalmari Helander, starring Samuel L. Jackson). Lampela is also used to navigating big projects, having worked for 15 years as the music producer for Vantaa Pops Orchestra, the only professional symphonic pops orchestra in Finland.
