Vii Kapadia is a film composer based in Mumbai, and his music tends to sit somewhere between orchestral and electronic, not fully one or the other. but something that feels like both at once. He started making music at thirteen, producing electronic music at home, and spent his teens and early twenties moving through dance music, DJing, pop production, and performing as a singer. He picked up guitar and piano along the way, fell hard for rock music, and somewhere in all of that realised film scoring was where everything clicked.
After dropping out of a psychology degree at Mithibai College to pursue music full-time, Vii joined UPG's Film and TV Production program in 2020, right as the world went into lockdown. He spent the next two years in his room writing music and scoring student made short films for friends and seniors in college, which eventually led to composing Mrigmarichika, his first project to get picked up by Hungama Films, followed by Cashmishq which was acquired by Pocket Films.
Since then he's gone full-time as a composer, with recent credits including Harder (Entropy Productions), Hugs Heal, Pied Piper(FTII graduate film), and Escape from Detention (FTII student's indie feature). In 2024, he attended the Screen Music Program in Italy, where he was mentored closely by composers such as Carlos Rafael Rivera (five-time Emmy winner behind The Queen's Gambit and Dept. Q) and David Buckley (known for The Sandman and The Lincoln Lawyer). He got accepted into Berklee College of Music and following year and is currently preparing to begin their Film Scoring and Composition program.
His sound is rooted in a love of orchestras and strings, with synthesisers woven in to add texture and something a little harder to name. He plays guitar, piano, sings, and that background as a performer tends to show up in how his scores feel.
