Segun Akinola is a British-Nigerian composer for film and television who has strengthened many projects with his musical acumen. He is most known for his music in the three series of Doctor Who starring the first female Doctor, Jodie Whittaker. A BAFTA Breakthrough Brit 2017, Segun’s other work includes scoring Sundance 2019 favourite and World Soundtrack Award nominee The Last Tree, BAFTA-nominated director Ursula Macfarlane's feature The Lost Sons, Apple TV+ feature 9/11: Inside The President's War Room, ITV drama Stephen which was executive-produced by Paul Greengrass, multimedia feature A Moving Image, the BBC/BritBox Agatha Christie adaptation Murder Is Easy, survival thriller film The Bayou, docuseries Origin: The Story of the Basketball Africa League for director-producer Richard Brown (True Detective), plus the Milli Vanilli biopic Girl You Know It's True and Alter Weisser Mann from Academy Award-winning producers Quirin Berg and Max Wiedemann (The Lives of Others). Segun’s most recent scores include the David Attenborough-narrated BBC natural history series Kingdom and German box office hit feature film Ach, diese Lücke, diese entsetzliche Lücke for producer Janine Jackowski (Spencer, Maria).
His work has screened at acclaimed festivals like Sundance, the BFI London Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, SXSW Film Festival, LA Film Festival, BlackStar Film Festival and many others.
