Biography

Jawson Dell is a rising star in the Chicago & New York music scenes, known for his unique blend of drawing inspiration from diverse musical genres and artists. His early influences include Jazz, Gospel, Blues, and Motown. The soulful warmth of these genres is evident in his music, blending seamlessly with modern elements to create a unique and evolving style.

Jawson's music journey was ignited by his early days in the orchestra. His singer-songwriter phase started during the debut of American Idol. He would also record short originals on his parent's old cassette tapes. As he grew older, he continued to explore various genres, including Rock, Folk, and Classical, further enriching his musical palette. Many describe his voice and style as a cross between John Legend and Seal. Some of his other influences are, Lianne La Havas, Stevie Wonder, Emily King, Robert Glasper, John Mayer, Mose Sumney, Jordan Rakei, Little Dragon, & Jungle

This eclectic mix of influences allows Jawson to craft music that feels both timeless and contemporary, resonating with a wide audience. His ability to blend the old with the new is a testament to his versatility and deep appreciation for different musical traditions. As he prepares for the release of his debut EP, Still Waters, set for March 2025, Jawson is excited to continue sharing his music with the world

In addition to his live performances, Jawson is also dedicated to community engagement and education. He volunteers actively in the jazz space and has songwriter circles, sharing his passion for music and storytelling. His commitment to fostering creativity and inclusivity is evident in all his endeavors.
