An avid audio-adventurer, and a 2012 graduate with a BA (Hons) and MMus from Bath Spa University. Jade is a multidisciplinary musician specialising in writing quirky fantasy music to designing chilling soundscapes in horror. From directing podcasts, to composing for art exhibitions, even developing indie games, Jade’s experiences in the creative industry shows her versatility in working with different media and their respective spaces.
On stage, Jade has toured with Siswå Sukrå during the summer of August 2017 to Java, Indonesia. Playing traditional Javanese Gamelan, she has performed with prominent musicians, dancers, dalangs (puppeteers) for wayang kulits (shadow puppet plays), festivals and concerts. She has also performed in sold out shows ‘Tsukimi 2018’ as a performing member of Tamashii Daiko of Japanese Taiko.
In October 2018, Jade’s compositions were performed at the Victoria & Albert Museum (London, UK) for ‘Game Music in the Globe’; a Royal Music of College series which showcased talent from game music composers. ‘The Journey Past’ was performed live by the Alkyona Quartet and arranged by Ashley Kampta. While it was a small and intimate venue, it did not deter audiences from crowding round and overspilling onto the floor!
Born and raised in London UK, and of Malaysian-Chinese and Thai heritage, Jade is an advocate for elevating the voices of the under-represented in the arts and in the tech / game industry. Her goal of bringing positive representation to not only audiences, but to also help develop culturally accurate options to those working from behind the scenes.
No matter the project or scope, working together in creating meaningful and accessible experiences through audio will always be her guiding principle.
