The band was founded in 2006 and played notable shows in Europe, the UK and China. „The Origin of Everything“ (Argonauta Records / October 2, 2026) is the band‘s fourth full-length album.

About

Our Ceasing Voice have always existed in the in-between. Between post-rock and post-metal, between vast soundscapes and heavy crescendos. With their new album "The Origin of Everything", the band explores the space between memory and change.

Founded in Innsbruck in 2006, Our Ceasing Voice have become one of Austria’s defining post-rock acts. Their music combines distinctive vocals with epic walls of sound, precise drumming, and a strong sense of dynamics. Over the past twenty years, the band has continuously evolved its sound, performing across Europe, the United Kingdom, and China. From the atmospheric debut EP "Steadied Stars in the Morphium Sky" to the emotional depth of "When the Headline Hit Home" and "That Day Last November", change has always been part of the band’s identity. With "Free Like Tonight" (2017), the band revealed new dimensions, shaped by Dominik Dörfler’s raw and fragile vocal presence. And yet, the band found itself in the in-between once again.

"The Origin of Everything" is the band’s first album since 2017. The songs reflect on looking forward while facing the past, searching for a sense of home, and questioning why certain things only make us feel alive when they hurt. “There are moments when everything shifts,” says bandleader and guitarist Sebastian Obermeir. “And only later do you begin to understand what has shaped you.”

Sonically, the album carries this idea forward. The songs move between the vastness of bands like Caspian and the weight of Cult of Luna. Carried by a voice that recalls Mark Lanegan, Our Ceasing Voice now break out of their former intimacy with a melancholic force. Like its predecessors, the album was created entirely independently, from the first fragment through recording and mixing to the final artwork.

"The Origin of Everything" is the band’s most personal album to date. “These songs contain everything that has accompanied us for years — everything we are, were, and might become,” says Obermeir. It would be easy to simply look back on twenty years as a band. But wouldn’t that only reveal what we already know? So you look inwards. Perhaps even to the origin of everything.
