He also continues to immerse himself in the feature film space, including scoring the upcoming documentary Pencil Test, which portrays the history of hand-drawn animation.

J.D. was raised in the music industry - performing from a young age with legendary musical figures like George Jones and Loretta Lynn. He cut his teeth interning at several recording studios before forging his own path and going on to tour with various bands across America. An accomplished musician, Spears used his diverse skills with guitar, bass, drums, and piano to transition to composing for media. His popular YouTube channel is home to his layered, complex orchestral covers of film scores, professional wrestling themes, and original compositions, earning a total of over 4 million views. When not composing, he can be found playing video games, collecting vinyl records, and appreciating whiskey.
