Described as an artist "whose concision...is nothing short of mesmerizing"(The American Prize), Patrick O'Malley is an award-winning composer of orchestral, chamber, and media music. He is inspired by mysterious dichotomies in nature and art, writing music that embraces abstract worlds and emotions with the goal of igniting listeners' imaginations. His classical works have been performed across the United States and Europe, and his film music has been heard in several American film festivals.

O'Malley has been recognized by organizations including the Los Angeles Philharmonic's Composer Intensive, The Los Angeles Society for Composer's and Lyricists, and The Aaron Copland House Residency. He was named Composer of the Year by the Sioux City Symphony in 2018 and made his Carnegie Hall debut with the New York Youth Symphony in 2021. O'Malley serves as the arranger and cover conductor for the innovative video game concert series "Journey LIVE" with GRAMMY-winning composer Austin Wintory, and in 2024 he won first prize in the European Recording Orchestra's Call Competition for Media Music. He recently released his first album of classical orchestral music, "The Horizons," with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, and his feature film score "Young & Cursed" with Intrada Records, the largest independent label dedicated to film music. His current projects include a new work for the GRAMMY-winning Akropolis Reed Quintet, and a concerto for Robert deMaine, principal cellist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. O'Malley continues to share his passion for music by instructing a graduate studio of composition students at California State University Northridge.

O'Malley completed his master's and doctoral degrees in music at the University of Southern California. He divides his time between living in Los Angeles, California, and Lake Charlevoix, Michigan.
