Fay Waithe Toussaint
Producer/Mix Engineer
About

I am a Full Sail University graduate with a Bachelors Degree in Music Production. I aspire to be an accomplished mix engineer like Leslie Brathwaite, working with many amazing artists in the industry. I was born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago learning to play the steelpan, the national instrument of Trinidad and Tobago at age 5. Since then, I have performed at many recitals, concerts and competitions across Trinidad, Tobago and even Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, until I moved to Florida in 2023 when I was 19 to pursue my Bachelors in Music Production. I am now looking for internships in studios to further enhance my knowledge on recording, mixing and mastering, in order to achieve my goals.

This song, Jumbie Party, is a tribute to an era passed in Soca, the most popular genre of music in Trinidad and Tobago, my home country. I have worked very hard on this project over the past month, and I am very happy with and proud of my final project track. I had a really fun experience working on this, from writing the music to having late night early morning lyric writing sessions with my friends. I learned new micing techniques for steelpan, and learned a great deal about running sessions inside a studio environment. I wanted the mix to allow all of the elements of my song to shine and have their own space, while still being punchy and energetic. There are somethings I would change about this project, namely getting the drums recorded live, having an entire brass section instead of a single trumpet player and a fuller live rhythm section. I am still very happy with my finished product, and am excited to see where I can take it in the future.
