Biography

Malachi Gregory is a composer and audio designer based in Los Angeles, currently finishing his Master's in Screen Scoring at USC. He's devoted to expressing a musical voice that sits at the crossroads of musical storytelling and technical craft.

Years working as a studio production assistant during his undergrad at NYU sharpened that foundation considerably. Malachi became fluent in troubleshooting signal flow issues on Neve and SSL boards, isolating roadblocks within Pro Tools and Cubase, and keeping complex recording sessions running smoothly for both students and industry professionals. In his current time at USC, Malachi has worked on over 30 projects at every stage of the audio production pipeline from scoring to sound design, mixing, and sample library creation. Most recently, he was contracted by Emmy-winning USC Alumni Katya Richardson for additional Pro Tools session prep for an upcoming project.

In addition to scoring for Film and TV, composing for Games hold a particular pull for him. Malachi enjoys the challenge of crafting scores that respond and adapt to a player's choices in real time, designating portions of the compositional process to middleware system design. Beyond the studio, he's put significant energy into the game audio community. Malachi was selected as the inaugural 2023 G.A.D.A. GameSoundCon Scholar, the 2025 G.A.D.A. GDC Scholar under the mentorship of Wilbert Roget II, and as one of the 2026 G.A.N.G. Scholars under the mentorship of Adam Gubman. For Malachi, collaboration isn't just part of the process; it's where the best ideas come from.
