The music you're about to hear was written and produced in coffee shops, hotel rooms, planes, trains, cars, and at the side of the road waiting for my engine to cool off.
That's because in 2024 I started the Rogue Composer project. Sick of hunching over my desk, I decided to pack up my studio into a single laptop and take it to where the inspiration was.
Having learnt a thing or two about music production (and European traffic laws) I'm now back in the UK full time. I'm a professional guitarist, teaching and working in several bands but it's my dream to get involved in music composition for games.
I hope you enjoy these tunes which wind their way, as I did, through lush gorges, thick forests, and over frozen mountain passes. Listen closely and you'll find that the border crossings, the bitter driving rain, the thoughts of home and the good times with new friends are all properly represented.
I've kept the list short for your convenience. If you think you might need some musical work done, please get in touch!
Enjoy,
An emotive and atmospheric score for traditional orchestra. The Flying City is a conceptual video game OST about wanderlust, optimism, and the magic of lighter-than-air travel. I imagined the gameplay to be mostly city building and exploration based, the player adapting and rebuilding the ship to fit new hazards and biomes above the clouds.

Invocation, my first 'rogue composer' project, is about starting something huge. Orchestra and synths mix to create a modern sci-fi action score to get the blood pumping.

Returning from my travels - I've recently been focusing on composing for indie developers on small game projects. Here is a sample of my work from the last few months, now settled in at my london home studio.
Circle Chase is a short indie game designed as a single, evolving boss fight. The brief was for a short, looping soundtrack that could fade between 3 layers: If the player is winning, the music is upbeat and inspiring. If the player is on the back foot, it fades to the 'Darker Mix' to raise the player's blood pressure a little! There's also a 3rd mix which plays when the player opens the upgrade scren or pause menu. I really enjoyed developing the adaptive quality of the music by collaborating with the dev, and I found writing in this chip-tune style to be really fun too!

The king's Cup is a short indie game, which was designed as a fast-paced, comical blend of chess and football. Although sadly never finshed, players would have to score without losing posession of the ball by being 'taken' by defenders following chess rules. This soundtrack had to be hectic and unserious, and it was incredubly fun to make! It features short loops that rapidly change over the series of lightning-fast levels.
