I'm Kayo (Ky-yo) Williams, a Chicago-based film composer and sound designer at Kayquarii Productions. I've scored features, documentaries, and series, beginning with Oscar-winning Matthew Cherry's debut film This Time. My most recent score, for the feature Wonder Child (ATX Festival, XL Film Festival), fuses chamber writing with sound design. I write across Romantic-era orchestral music, Latin jazz, gospel, hip hop, and world percussion, and I compose and orchestrate, and when requested, I have the ability to mix my own scores. A score is its own voice in the story; timing matters as much as melody. I'm a professional member of the Society of Composers and Lyricists and a 2019 New Orleans Film Society Film Music Initiative alum.
