Biography

Bara Matahari Pagi (b. 2008) is a composer specializing in film, animation, and video game music, currently residing in Indonesia. Since discovering a passion for music composition at the age of 12, he has scored a variety of projects for companies and studios around the world. His love for crafting memorable melodies and adventurous themes carries over throughout every project.

Upcoming titles include: the Canadian animated short Above, additional music for the short film Akari with composer Grant Steller, the Vancouver Film School short Burden, and several productions for the licensing company Artlist (the first two being Caboose on the Loose and Starbound).

In 2024, Bara contributed additional music for his first feature film at the age of 15, making him one of the youngest composers to ever receive an additional music credit on a feature film. His recent work includes trailer music for the adventure game Foolish Mortals, the main theme for WackyWand (concept piece), additional mockups for a German theatre production of The Neverending Story, as well as trailer music for the Spanish theme park Isla Mágica, along with its waterpark Agua Mágica.

He has also worked with notable companies in the music industry such as Spitfire Audio, Cinesamples, Vienna Symphonic Library, and UJAM, among others to create demo tracks for their sample libraries.

On the non-music side, in October 2022, Bara was invited to share his journey during an inspiration session for Netflix's Youth Mentoring Connection program, and in December 2024 he spoke at TEDxSurabaya about his passion for film music. He was also featured in the documentary Embers of Surabaya, Echoes in Hollywood (2025), alongside Bleeding Fingers Music composer Laurentia Editha. The film was screened at the U.S. Consulate General in Surabaya, followed by a panel discussion.
