Biography

Bara Matahari Pagi (b. 2008) is a 17-year-old composer for film, animation, and games currently based in Indonesia. He began his journey into film scoring at the age of 12 and has since scored several projects for various companies and studios.

He is currently scoring the Canadian animated short film Above, as well as composing for the music licensing company Artlist on several productions this year, the first two being the action-adventure piece Caboose on the Loose and the space themed 4-track EP Starbound.

In 2024, Bara composed additional music for his first feature film at the age of 15, making him one of the youngest composers to earn an additional music credit. He has scored several short films and contributed music to a variety of projects. Recent work includes composing the trailer music for the adventure game Foolish Mortals, writing the main theme for WackyWand, creating additional mockups for a German theatre production of The Neverending Story, as well as composing trailer music for the Spanish theme park Isla Mágica, along with its waterpark Agua Mágica.

He has also collaborated with notable companies in the music industry such as Spitfire Audio, Cinesamples, Vienna Symphonic Library, and UJAM, among others to create demo tracks for their sample libraries.

In October 2022, Bara was invited to share his journey during an inspiration session for Netflix's Youth Mentoring Connection program, and in December 2024 he spoke at TEDxSurabaya about his passion for film music. He was also featured in the 2025 documentary Embers of Surabaya, Echoes in Hollywood, alongside Bleeding Fingers Music composer Laurentia Editha. The film was screened at the U.S. Consulate General in Surabaya, followed by a panel discussion.
