


Riccardo Barba is a pianist, composer, and arranger with a diverse background spanning classical, jazz, and contemporary music. He studied at the Conservatorio di Milano and Trinity College London, earning diplomas in classical piano and jazz piano performance, and is currently completing a Master Degree in Orchestration at ThinkSpace Education – Arts University Bournemouth.
With over 20 albums to his name as a leader, session musician, and arranger, Riccardo has worked across multiple genres, from jazz and classical to cinematic and popular music. His work is characterized by refined harmonic textures, rich orchestrations, and a deep understanding of musical storytelling. He is also a founding member of the Barba Negri Ziliani Trio, an ensemble that blends jazz traditions with a fresh and expressive approach.
As a composer, Riccardo specializes in film scoring, video game music, and concert music composition, crafting emotionally engaging soundscapes that enhance visual narratives and live performances alike. His style seamlessly integrates traditional orchestral writing with modern production techniques, including electronic elements and hybrid scoring approaches. His passion for cinema and video games fuels his ability to tell compelling stories through music, making each composition a deeply immersive experience.
Riccardo is also an accomplished arranger and orchestrator, collaborating with ensembles, bands, and production teams to create original works and reinterpretations of existing pieces.
Beyond composition and performance, Riccardo is an experienced music educator, teaching piano, composition, and music history. His approach emphasizes both technical excellence and artistic expression, aiming to inspire the next generation of musicians.
