A classically trained pianist with an innate curiosity, Mathias’ first love was always film music. Drawing from the rich traditions of orchestral music and exploring the possibilities of hybrid and electronic sounds, he crafts music that resonates intimately with each project with the sole aim of deepening the emotional impact of the films he scores.

With an ever growing list of credits and clients, Mathias’ work has been shown on RTÉjr with his score for MARVEL artist Will Sliney’s directorial debut Droid Academy. The score for the latter was recorded by the MTU Cork School of Music Orchestra under the baton of Mathias himself during a session which saw no other than the Lord Mayor of Cork attending.

In 2026 Mathias saw his first selection in Cannes Film Festival's Critics Week with his contribution on the feature Documentary Tin Castle. He was also nominated in the Best Original Score (Short) for his work on The Comeback by Jordan Murshed at the 2026 ISFMF.

His music was recently recorded by Ireland's leading RTÉ Concert Orchestra for his score to an upcoming RTÉ Doc On One Documentary podcast series.

He has also composed original score for YouTube Series projects such as MARVEL's Marvel Illustrated and STAR WARS' Star Wars: Worldbuilding.

Mathias style often blends classical elements with modern soundscapes, reflecting a deep understanding of narrative through music. As he continues to build his career, his compositions are gaining recognition for their ability to elevate the cinematic experience.

His career started as a composer assistant for Anna Rice including credits such as Andrea Corr’s The Christmas Album and the award winning scores for Our Blue World and I Dream In Photos. Mathias has also played a major role in the creation of For The Lack of Laura, a musical created by American composer Kurt Rosenberg, for which he assisted the Orchestrator Jake Morgan with transcriptions, copying, recording supervision, mixing and live keyboard performance in Ireland and the 2025 UK tour. More recently, Mathias worked with Oscar Winning composer Stephen Warbeck on two feature films: The Three Urns & Faraway Home.
