Erin (Tzuyu) Liu is a Taiwanese composer who is passionate about combining music and storytelling to create an immersive experience for the audience. She obtained her BA in English Language and Literature from Fu Jen Catholic University in Taiwan and pursued an MFA in Music Composition for the Screen at Columbia College Chicago in 2021, where she received the Graduate Award Scholarship.
During her time at Columbia College Chicago, Erin studied film scoring, orchestration, and video game scoring with renowned professors, including program director Kubilay Uner, Kazimir Boyle, and Joel Corelitz. She also had the opportunity to work with Composers-in-Residence Miriam Cutler, Vivek Maddala, and Brandon Campbell, further refining her craft in media scoring. In June 2023, Erin had the privilege of interning with award-winning composer for film and television, Mac Quayle, right in the heart of Hollywood Los Angeles. It was a surreal experience for her to witness the inner workings of the music production for “American Horror Story 12” during this internship.
Since 2019, Erin has written music for a variety of media projects. Her best known works included the mini TV series "Reincarnated Love: Amy's Revenge" streamed on GoodShort, theater projects “Vinegar Tom” and “Golden Child” staged at the Arens Performing Art Center in Fu Jen Catholic University, and animated shorts "Never Never Land", “Wasted Dreams”, and “Whack a Mole”. In June 2023, she recorded her graduate thesis "Pegasus: The Heavenward Soaring" featuring a 70-piece orchestra conducted by Anthony Parnther. The recording took place at the 20th Fox Newman Scoring Stage and was mixed by Dennis Sands.
Erin's goal is to create music that takes the audience on an imaginary adventure. She is dedicated to expanding her knowledge and exploring new possibilities in all aspects of her creation:))
