Christine Aufderhaar is an acclaimed composer based in Berlin and at times in Los Angeles. Over the course of over 20 years, she has written the music for over 50 films, many of them have been honored with awards, including Aurora's Sunrise by Inna Sahakyan, which won 20 international prizes.
Besides film music Christine writes also concert music, which has been performed in Russia, Switzerland and Germany, recently in the prestigious Berlin Philharmonie.
Christine served as a board member of the German Film Academy and is a longtime board member of the German Film Composers Union. After the SCL mentorship program in Los Angeles, which offered the opportunitiy to work with Alf Clausen (The Simpsons), Dan Foliart (7th Heaven), Jay Chattaway (Star Trek) and Steve Bramson (J.A.G.), she was offered an associate professorship at the ‘Hochschule für Film und Fernsehen’ in Babelsberg (Berlin), but after attending the ASCAP filmscoring workshop she left her position in order to work exclusively as a composer.
Christine regularly collaborates with members of the ‘Berliner Philharmoniker’ and with numerous other orchestras. She holds degrees from the Conservatory Lugano in classical piano performance and the Berklee College of Music, Boston, where she graduated in half the usual time in film scoring and classical composition receiving summa cum laude, various scholarships and the Richard Levy Award.
Her background gives her the freedom to leave the world of classical and jazz harmony behind and create her own language, a wide range from intimate melodies, subtle electronic soundscapes to powerful orchestral scores. Her aim is to find a characteristic sound for each project.
Over the years Christine was honored with multiple Awards and was named by the ‘Federation of Film & Audiovisual Composers of Europe’ as ‚European Composer 2008 for Switzerland’. She served numerous times as a jury member of int. Film Music Awards and was last year invited to be one of the ‚Spot the Composer‘ at the Cannes Filmfestival.
Christine is fluent in Italian, French, English and German.
