In the latter part of 2024 Pembrokeshire-based composer Owen Gurry set out to write and record a series of pieces for small ensembles.
Filmmaker Ben Risley followed the entire project and created a behind-the-scenes documentary revealing the people, places and process of creating the music you hear of TV show, ads, movies and video games.
The project was part-funded by the welsh Government via Creative Wales.
Owen Gurry is an established Composer with 15 years experience writing and producing music for media. His credits as an instrumentalist / sound designer include AAA movies such as Blade Runner 2049 (music by Hans Zimmer and Benjamin Wallfisch), Gore Verbinski's 'A Cure for Wellness' (music by B. Wallfisch) and Ron Howard's 'Thirteen Lives' (music by B. Wallfisch) and dozens more.
Owen has contributed two Grammy-nominated projects as a co-writer, guitarist and string arranger. He is a voting member of the Recording Academy.
As a composer, he is prolific library writer with thousands of cues in varying genres constantly broadcast around the world. Recent music placements include the Netflix film A Babysitter’s Guide To Monster Hunting, the comedy series Aunty Donna’s Big Ol’ House of Fun, Shameless (US), Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee, alongside hundreds more. Owen is a Principal Voting Member of the Performing Rights Society (PRS).
He also take commissions and has worked with large brands including Classic FM, Kraken Rum, UNESCO, and the Paralympic Games. Alongside which, Owen has a number of concert works in development for performances in 2026.
Owen studied 'Composition for TV, Film and Games' at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston (US) where he graduated summa cum laude.
