WHAT IS A MOCKUP?
A mockup for film scoring projects is a detailed, digitally-produced version of a film's musical score, created using virtual instruments and sample libraries. It simulates what the final orchestral music will sound like, allowing directors, producers, and composers to preview the score before recording with live musicians. Mockups are essential for approvals, revisions, and budgeting decisions during the production process.
WHAT IS ORCHESTRATION?
Orchestration is the art and craft of arranging a musical composition for an orchestra or ensemble. It involves deciding which instruments will play which parts of the music, how they will interact, and how to use the unique sounds and ranges of each instrument to bring out the desired emotion, texture, and dynamics of the piece. Orchestration transforms a basic musical idea—often written for piano or as a simple sketch—into a full, rich arrangement suitable for performance by an orchestra or ensemble.

Leo Puentes is a Colombian composer, arranger, conductor and orchestrator with a master's degree in Music for Film & Video Games from the Film Scoring Academy of Europe. He studied under the tutelage of Conrad Pope (John William's Orchestrator), Thomas Goss (Orchestration Online), Derek Gleeson (Professional Conductor), Mikolaj Stroiński (Composer of The Witcher 3 Game), Dr. Andy Hill (Director of the FSAE) among other composers of great renown. Leo has the ability to convey emotion and intimacy in the music he scores. He produces and elevates his music with orchestral landscapes and a masterful use of virtual instruments. With this, he can create a character, a story or an ambience that any project might require.
