Biography

Born and raised in Hamilton Heights, New York City, 24-year-old singer-songwriter and filmmaker Sirena Maré creates work deeply influenced by her travels and personal experiences growing up between Australia and New York. Her artistry is shaped through a cinematic lens, unpacking the past, embracing emotional vulnerability, and telling the untold stories of the people she’s encountered along the way.

Introduced to the arts at the age of seven and raised in a community of musicians in her Harlem neighborhood, Sirena’s first memories of music include sitting in the backseat of her parents’ car and attending concerts with her family, seeing artists like Colin Hay, James Taylor, and Regina Spektor. Her signature sound draws inspiration from classic female artists such as Norah Jones, Joni Mitchell, and Madison Cunningham. She aims to push the boundaries of folk Americana by blending acoustic songwriting with more experimental, often orchestral, production, creating a sound that feels both intimate and expansive.

A recent graduate of NYU Steinhardt with a major in Contemporary Production and Songwriting and a minor in Film Production from Tisch School of the Arts, Sirena is currently pursuing her Master’s in Psychotherapy through Northwestern University’s The Family Institute.

Drawn to the subtleties of dialogue, silence, and scene, Sirena approaches film with a keen sense of how emotion lives in sound. She leans into the intimacy of her acoustic roots, expanding into cinematic palettes when the story calls for it. Through melody and lyric, what she calls “the whisper behind your ear”, she supports the emotional arc with quiet intention, approaching each project with curiosity and respect.

Her plans for the new year include expanding her creative collaborations, working closely with filmmakers, and continuing to perform. Sirena’s work exists at the intersection of healing and art, where sound, story, and feeling come together to move people.
