Biography

Benjamin Louis Brody is a Los Angeles–based composer and multifaceted musician recognized for his innovative sonic approach and collaborations across film, TV, and live concert settings. As a versatile horn player and guitarist, Brody blends electronic and orchestral elements to create immersive soundscapes that resonate with musicians, filmmakers, and choreographers worldwide.

Some recent scoring and sync credits include Hulu’s Last Take: Rust and the Story of Halyna, ABC’s Scamanda, and VICE News (HBO, Showtime). In 2024–25, he also orchestrated, arranged, and conducted Hrishikesh Hirway’s score for the film Companion (Warner Bros./New Line Cinema) and composed music for award-winning short films Tropicalía (Criterion Channel) and The South Is My Sister’s Skin (Showtime).

In addition to film and television, Brody’s compositions have been featured in advertising campaigns for Vogue, the New York Times, Alibaba, Anheuser-Busch, Dropbox, and Women in Film. Earlier in his career, he composed several orchestral works for the Chelsea Symphony and worked behind the scenes for composers including Philip Glass and Oscar winner Elliot Goldenthal.

In 2025, he began a new commission utilizing 4DSOUND spatial audio technology, supported by James Allister Sprang’s studio. Known for embracing cutting-edge music technology, Brody previously released Floating Into Infinity (New Amsterdam Records), a collaboration with drummer Ian Chang (Son Lux) that featured Sensory Percussion. This work has inspired artists globally, including choreographer Nicole Von Arx, who incorporated it into her production The Fear Project.

Brody began his composition career as Goldenthal’s assistant and was later nominated for the ASCAP Foundation Henry Mancini Music Fellowship. Brody’s debut EP, Flow State, was voted by listeners as one of WNYC’s New Sounds’ top 10 releases of 2013, marking the start of a career defined by bold sonic experimentation and cross-disciplinary collaborations.
