About

Benjamin Westphalen is an award-winning composer, producer and sound designer from Germany, working in New York, Los Angeles and Hamburg.

Films featuring his work have been showcased at numerous festivals and won awards at the Student Academy Awards, Independent Shorts, the Tasveer Film Festival, and the College Television Awards / Emmys. His Score for "A Dream Called Khushi (Happiness)" recently won the Hollywood Music in Media Award 2025 for Best Score in the Short Film (Documentary) category.

Benjamin’s background in piano, audio engineering and beat production allows for an unconventional fusion of traditional and modern techniques, organic ambiences and electronic soundscapes, orchestral textures and electronic beats.

He was a member of the SCL mentorship cohort in 2024-25 in New York and graduated with the master’s degree in Music Theory & Composition: Screen Scoring from NYU Steinhardt in 2025.
