About
Benjamin Westphalen is a composer, producer and sound designer from Germany, working in New York and Hamburg.
Films featuring his work have been showcased at numerous festivals and won awards at the Student Academy Awards, Independent Shorts, the Tasveer Film Festival, and the Student Television Awards / Emmys.
Benjamin’s background in piano, audio engineering and beat production allows for an unconventional fusion of traditional and modern techniques, organic ambiences and electronic soundscapes, orchestral textures and electronic beats.
He has been on stages across Germany, performing as a keyboardist in various bands or just by himself showcasing his solo piano compositions.
Benjamin is a member of the current SCL mentorship cohort in New York and graduated with the master’s degree in Music Theory & Composition: Screen Scoring from NYU Steinhardt in 2025.
