Born in Canada, Christopher Lai is a composer, songwriter, producer, arranger, guitarist and DJ. As a film composer, he has scored multiple award winning films and commercials by up-and-coming directors in Hong Kong. Christopher is currently scoring two feature films to be released in Hong Kong and China during 2025-2026, including a drama by the critically acclaimed director Andrew Lau.

Christopher is the winner of the ‘UCompose 2021’ competition hosted by Universal Production Music, whereby his compositions were included in an album release with the world’s largest production library. He is now officially part of the roster of composers in the Universal family.

As a film composer, Christopher scored 3 films (Ateh, Entrance and The Lamp) that competed in the 2021 Fresh Wave International Short Film Festival - one of which, Ateh, was awarded the prestigious ‘Special Mention Award’ and ‘Audience Award’. Ateh and Entrance were both screened at the 2021 Kaohsiung Film Festival, and Ateh was specially invited to participate in the 2021 Golden Harvest Awards in Taiwan. From 2022 to 2023, Christopher has scored 3 further Fresh Wave films, one of which (Simon Says, Simon Says) won the grand ‘Fresh Wave Award’ and ‘Best Screenplay Award in 2022. In 2024, Christopher scored yet another Fresh Wave film entitled The Land of Bliss, which won the award for Best Cinematography.

In 2012, with the Sun Eskimos (signed to Untitled Entertainment Asia) - in which he was the guitarist and co-composer, the band's single reached #1 on the RTHK 903 charts, and together they have performed at venues such as Clockenflap in 2012, the Fringe Club and the RTHK 903 Music Festival in Hong Kong.

As a DJ, he is represented by FuFu Creative and has performed at various leading radio stations, venues and festivals including Fauve Radio, Hong Kong Community Radio, Potato Head, the Art of the Wild Festival and the Shi Fu Miz Autumn Edition in 2019.
