BIOGRAPHY
Melissa Axel is a lyricist, songwriter, and creative producer for the stage and screen. Be it animation, live musicals, TV, or film, Axel weaves words into each project’s narrative tapestry with the instinct of an artist, the skill of a craftsperson, and the care of a close friend. After serving as associate producer of Disney Legend Alan Menken’s solo show and Hollywood Bowl concerts of Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid, Axel helped develop and wrote lyrics for an Emmy-nominated film & TV music benefit for The Recording Academy’s MusiCares, as well as a Golden Globes Foundation grants special that Axel also co-wrote. Other projects include A Celebration of Disney Parks Music starring Noah Sunday-Lefkowitz, a series of mini-musicals about L.A. artists, and songs for a wide variety of award-winning live action and animated shorts. With a keen ear for sonic quality and an empathetic approach to collaboration, Axel’s work reflects a deep love for bringing emotion to life through musical storytelling.
