Biography

Always getting to the heart of every story, Amy Balcomb's musical narrative is insightful, cinematic, and above all heartfelt. Whether a documentary, animation, short or feature, Amy's ability to convey the subtleties of emotion within her music are astute.

Composing since the age of five, Amy began her professional composing career in 2017 and now works with more than a dozen music publishers internationally, including companies based in New York, Hollywood, Germany, Australia, Bulgaria and Estonia. Her music is heard across major television networks and streaming platforms, with placements on programmes including Countryfile, Antiques Roadshow, Love It or List It, Animal Park, Sue Perkins’ Big Adventure and Michael Portillo’s Andalusia.

Alongside her production music work, Amy composes directly to picture and has scored a diverse range of film and animation projects. Her credits include the feature film The Rideshare Killer, animation The Library of Dreams, and the Irish short films Sanctum, The Black Keys and Mantel Peace.

Amy’s writing is cinematic and emotive, with a strong instinct for finding the emotional heart of a scene or brief. Her work is characterised by textural variation, orchestral colour and a sensitivity to pacing and narrative, moving comfortably between intimate piano and string writing and larger, more dramatic cinematic soundworlds.

Working from her studio in Devon, Amy continues to compose extensively for television and media while developing a range of bespoke projects, including music for trailers and mobile games. Her versatility and strong sense of musical storytelling allow her to create distinctive, carefully crafted music across an increasingly broad range of visual media.

With her proven track record of easygoing professionalism, Amy should be high on the list for consideration for your next project.
