Emily Rice is an award-nominated composer for film and TV, known for her dark, post-classical score to the Netflix series "The I-Land" (executive produced by and starring Kate Bosworth) and for creating an introspective, bluesy-cello-based score for "Miss Juneteenth" starring Nicole Beharie ("Sleepy Hollow", "Black Mirror"), which premiered to critical acclaim at the Sundance Film Festival and was nominated by the Satellite Awards, Independent Spirit Awards, Gotham Awards and Austin Film Critics Association among others; the soundtrack was released by Lakeshore Records. Emily's other projects include the Netflix action-adventure anime film "Sol Levante" and award-winning documentaries "Altona" and "For Love & Life: No Ordinary Campaign", executive produced by Katie Couric and Phil Rosenthal and featuring Barack Obama. She recently scored "Broken Bird" for Catalyst Studios and received an SCL Award nomination for her score. More recent projects include an action-adventure Korean studio film, as well as documentary feature films for Netflix, Fishbowl Films, and RAW.

Emily has contributed music and/or orchestration to major Hollywood productions such as "Phoenix Rising" (HBO's documentary mini-series featuring Evan Rachel Wood), "Tomb Raider", "Alita: Battle Angel", "The Mummy", "Altered Carbon" and "Star Trek: Discovery". Emily has collaborated with many top composers including Brian Tyler ("Crazy Rich Asians", "Iron Man 3"), James Newton Howard ("The Hunger Games", "The Dark Knight", "The Village"), Laura Karpman ("American Fiction", "The Marvels") and Junkie XL ("Max Mad: Fury Road", "Deadpool").

Recognised as an emerging talent early on in her career, Emily attracted industry attention when she was featured in the second annual "The Future is Female" concert alongside an all-star roster of female film composers including Germaine Franco ("Encanto") and Tamar-Kali ("Mudbound"). Emily was the first composer to be awarded a scholarship from BAFTA Los Angeles and holds a bachelor’s degree in music from the University of York and a graduate certificate in film scoring from the USC Scoring for Motion Picture and Television program. She is also an alumna of the prestigious Sundance Institute Film Music & Sound Design Lab, the Cannes 'Spot the Composer' programme, and was an artist-in-residence at the Ucross Foundation.

Growing up in northwest London, Emily began her musical life as a cellist playing in orchestras and rock bands. She composed the music for theatre fundraising event “Shakespeare Shorts” in collaboration with the UN Refugee Agency, featuring British actors such as Stephen Fry, Martin Freeman and James Norton in LA and London’s West End. Her debut instrumental album "Maybe It's Because I'm a Londoner" was released in 2021 and is available on streaming platforms worldwide.
