David studied film scoring at the University of Arts Utrecht in the Netherlands, where he earned a Bachelor of Music with honors and a Master of Arts degree, and continued his studies at UCLA Extension’s film scoring program in Los Angeles.
He gained industry experience as an intern for renowned composer Henry Jackman (Captain America: Civil War, Jumanji, Kingsman) in 2017 and contributed to the music departments of major productions, including Sony’s Smurfs: The Lost Village. His credits span award-winning films, documentaries, and trailers, as well as orchestrations for the globally popular game The Elder Scrolls: Online.
His work features in trailers for high-profile productions such as Alita: Battle Angel (20th Century Fox), Ballers (starring Dwayne Johnson), You (Netflix), Love Island (Peacock), and America’s Got Talent. David also frequently composes for Chinese studio productions on iQIYI, including the award-winning drama series My Journey to You.
In 2019, David collaborated with Grammy-nominated cellist Christine H. Kim on the album Reminiscences, and in 2021, he composed a piece for internationally acclaimed clarinetist Seunghee Lee. He is a member of the World Soundtrack Academy and a voting member of the Recording Academy (Grammys).
