Biography

Catherine Nguyen is a Vietnamese-American composer who communicates sonic intention through colorful electro-acoustic textures and diverse harmonic language.

As a contractor at Blizzard, she is a credited composer on World of Warcraft: Dragonflight, assisting Glenn Stafford and the music team with additional writing, arranging/MIDI orchestration, score mixing, and more. Her other engagements at Blizzard include Wwise implementation, additional arranging, and technical play-testing/quality-assurance work on Diablo IV under composers Ted Reedy and Leo Kaliski. She has also assisted Adam Burgess with various tasks for Overwatch 2

She is currently one of the principal composers on Bad Robot Game's upcoming IP titled 4:Loop and is also providing additional music for Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred. Her work as an orchestrator includes project titles like Arknights, AFK Journey, and Slay the Princess, to name only a few.

Outside of video game music, Catherine has worked in the music department for Dragon Age: Absolution (2022), Disney's Encanto (2021), Bill & Ted: Face the Music (2020), and the original Sky TV series Murder at the Cottage (2021). She was also a mentee of the AWFC mentorship program where she studied with Christophe Beck (Frozen, WandaVision, Ant Man, etc.).

Catherine holds a B.M. in Piano Performance with a Sociology minor (concentration in the Asian-American Experience) from the University of South Florida and an MFA in Music Composition for the Screen from Columbia College Chicago. When not in the studio, she can be found reading, playing video games, or tinkering with vintage watches.
