Jason “Jaz” Yglesias is an award-winning producer, artist, educator, and media professional from Kailua-Kona. A two-time recipient of the prestigious Na Hoku Hanohano Awards with his former Island reggae band Ehukai—best known for the hit single “Moloka‘i Slide”—Jaz has also earned 13 Na Hoku nominations as a producer. Throughout his career, he has played a major role in developing and mentoring some of Hawai‘i’s most recognized artists, including four-time Grammy winner Kalani Pe'a, as well as Kenny Tagavilla, Komakakino, Moemoea, and Mana.

In addition to his music career, Jaz spent 27 years in broadcasting as a radio personality and Program Director for KAPA Radio. After retiring from radio in 2022, he was recruited to help revive the music program at Konawaena High School. Hired based on his extensive industry experience, he later enrolled at Full Sail University to earn his degree in Music Production with an emphasis in music theory. Inspired by his passion for education, Jaz plans to continue into Full Sail’s Master’s program in Educational Technology with the goal of teaching at the university level.

As a solo artist, Jaz continues to release new music, including his reggae single “Paradise,” which held the #1 spot on KWXX’s “Top 5 at 5”. And his new Neo Soul single "Swing Thru" is already making waves on Hawaii radio (#5) . Beyond music, Jaz is also a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and became the first instructor to introduce Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu into Hawai‘i’s Department of Education as a physical education elective for middle schools. Today, he teaches both Music and Jiu-Jitsu at Konawaena Middle School, continuing to inspire the next generation through both the arts and athletics.
