Karlotta Skagfield is an Icelandic composer, sound designer and vocalist based in London. Blending classical composition, experimental sound design and layered vocals, she creates emotionally driven scores that explore the space between the human and the otherworldly.

Her recent work includes the original score for Seas of the Sun: The Story of Cluster, a feature-length documentary produced by Space Rocks for The European Space Agency. Drawing inspiration from Iceland’s aurora filled landscapes, Karlotta combined orchestra, manipulated sound and her own voice to capture the wonder, tragedy and human perseverance behind ESA’s pioneering Cluster mission.

Karlotta has also composed music for Jagex’s fantasy survival game RuneScape: Dragonwilds and the Icelandic short film DULD (Sense). Her earlier work includes vocal and musical contributions to Trevor Morris’s score for Netflix’s Vikings: Valhalla, Atli Örvarsson’s score for Netflix’s No Limit, and CJ Mirra’s score for the feature film A Banquet.

Before becoming a screen composer, Karlotta trained in opera and composition for six years at the Reykjavík Academy of Vocal Arts. She later moved to London to study composition and music production at BIMM, where she expanded her practice into sound design, field recording and music for moving image.

Her Icelandic upbringing remains central to her musical identity. Through atmospheric orchestration, distinctive vocal textures and unconventional sounds, Karlotta creates immersive sonic worlds that give emotional form to stories of nature, science and the unknown.
