Composer Brian Morales and Choreographer Julia Bengtsson have teamed up to create the dynamic chamber ballet: Strangers. The work calls for a woodwind quintet, percussion and 4 dancers and goes for 45 minutes in duration. It covers themes of immigration using abstract metaphors and Commedia del Arte characters. Using folklore and fables, our migrant character, Zanni, traverses the stage for a better life.
College groups and ballet companies alike will be attracted to the economic elements of this production, given the small number of players needed.
"This music of Brian Morales is a wonderful experience in sound. Brian employs a lovely use of color, very poignant harmonic language, and there is a real pathos to the character of this music. The music engages the listener from the opening measures!"
