Incoherence is a 30-minute student film by students at Emerson College where a woman, Aaliyah, seeks experimental treatment for her OCD but her perceptions of reality start to unravel. With a psychological film like this there are moments where sound design is a big part of the overall feel of the movie. You can see in the beginning where Aaliyah battles her OCD and moves in and out of conversation with her co-workers as she fixates on water dripping from the sink which I recorded from my own sink and edited. You will see moments like this throughout the film!

'What Dwells Under" An Original Thriller/Horror Short Film
What Dwells Under by Matt Hourigan is a thriller based on the monster lying under your bed. He creeps around until he is ready for his next victim. This film I knew was going to be very suspenseful. I timed sound design impact when the monster pops into the frame although not fully visible to the viewer to create an unsettling feeling that someone is there. I had the most fun making the monster vocal noises. I recorded myself groaning and breathing, pitched it down, used Dehumanizer from the Krotos, and added a spacious reverb. Additionally I had lots of fun creating the footsteps and movement of the monster. The director wanted his movement to be creaky bones rubbing against one another so I used bell peppers, cellery and, leaves from palms to create a crunchy bone effect. I also smushed the bell peppers to an almost liquid form as the director wanted his movement to be slimey as well. This film recently was screened at the First Glance Festival in Los Angeles. Please enjoy this film!
Lurking is a found-footage thriller feature film by Timeless Productions. I had the opportunity to be the Audio QC Specialist for the film helping out with Foley and Sound Design. For the trailer above I was responsible for all sound design. Please enjoy!
