Hailey McGann is a composer based out of South Florida. Having studied at Florida Atlantic University, she earned a bachelor's degree in commercial music composition under the tutelage of eminent scholar Michael Zager. Michael guided her in composition, production, and songwriting (underneath his established university record label Hoot Wisdom, in which she aided artists in songwriting and composition).
She is now currently pursuing a masters in screen scoring from NYU.
Having received classical and jazz flute training from flutist Elissa Lakofsky during her time in University, Hailey participated in a variety of performing ensembles ranging from salsa orchestras, to choirs, to wind ensembles.
At the undergraduate level, Hailey was able to focus on many avenues of composition; in band literature, orchestral writing, writing for advertising and commercials, songwriting, film scoring, production, and arranging for marching bands. This has allowed her to gain fluidity in electronic composition, fluidity in DAWs and production softwares, as well as traditional notation and composition.
Additionally, Hailey studied conducting vastly underneath multiple mentors in both orchestral, wind, and marching band settings from, respectively, Dr. Laura Joella, Dr. Kyle Prescott, and Dr. Mark Decker. In many of these ensembles she conducted original work she composed, allowing her to develop an all encompassing mark on her original music.
Hailey has also collaborated within musical theatre productions, having served as the pit orchestra conductor for the Florida Atlantic University Department of Theatre and Dance's 2025 production of 1776: The Musical; under the guidance of and mentorship of experienced musical director and Maestra South Florida chapter founding member Caryl Fantel (musical director of FAU Department of Theatre and Dance).
She attributes her multi-faceted studies to giving her the ability to score for a variety of genres and projects. As a collaborator she is more than excited to work with new artists and tackle new creative endeavors. Hailey would love to work hear from you about new projects and upcoming work, she could not be more excited.
